Kirov doctors corrected a 14-year-old teenager's chest deformity
In late September, a 14-year-old boy sought medical help. The patient was diagnosed with a keel deformity, due to which the front part of the chest protrudes like the keel of a boat. In such cases, surgical intervention is required.
The chest deformity was common in childhood and adolescence. Nine years ago, doctors corrected the funnel-shaped deformity that had developed in the child as he grew.
The operation was performed by the attending physician of the trauma center Mikhail Yagovkin. The surgeons separated the tissue from the ribs, resected the cartilage while preserving the perichondrium and installed a titanium plate. The procedure lasted 2 hours 30 minutes and was completed successfully. The patient was discharged 2 weeks after the operation.
Earlier we wrote that an additional 400 million rubles were allocated for medicines for residents of the Kirov region.
