Why the state refuses to pay pensioners

The state can refuse to pay a pension to a pensioner for three reasons: age discrepancy, lack of pension points and lack of insurance coverage. This was reported by Natalia Prodanova, professor at the Russian University of Economics. G.V. Plekhanov.

"The retirement age in 2024 will be 58 years for women and 63 years for men. The age limit will be raised, and by 2028 the retirement age in Russia will be 60 years for women and 65 years for men," Prodanova explained in an interview with the online publication Podmoskovie Segodnya. She also said that early retirement was possible. He pointed out that there are preferential categories of citizens who are allowed, for example, women who have given birth to and raised three or more children, or disabled children.

In addition to the age limit, the number of pension points plays an important role. The minimum point required in 2024 is 28.2 points, and by 2028 this number will increase to 30 points. Prodanova said that pension points depend on the insurance premiums paid and length of service. The expert also added that additional points can be purchased through the Russian Social Fund, but there is a limit on the number of points purchased per year.

Earlier, the leader of the LDPR party Leonid Slutsky announced a project to transfer children's pension points to parents. Thus, elderly people who have not accumulated enough points can use their children's points to retire faster or increase the size of their pension.

A bill on early retirement for single fathers with many children was recently submitted to the State Duma. According to the party leader, father support will help improve the demographic situation in Russia.
