The State Duma has adopted a bill to increase the minimum wage to 22,440 rubles in 2025

The State Duma approved in the first reading a bill to increase the minimum wage to 22,440 rubles from January 1, 2025.

The proposal was sent to the House of Representatives by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation. The explanatory note notes that the bill was developed as part of the implementation of President Vladimir Putin's task of increasing the minimum wage at an accelerated pace and ensuring that by 2030 it reaches 35 thousand rubles per month, which is more than double compared to 2023.

Accordingly, in 2023, the rate of increase in the minimum wage will increase to 16.6%, and the ratio to the median wage will increase to 48%. Thanks to this measure, about 4.2 million citizens will receive a wage increase.

Earlier, LDPR deputies, led by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Social Policy Yaroslav Nilov, submitted a bill on doctors' salaries to the House of Representatives for consideration. Therefore, mid-level medical workers were offered to be provided with a salary of no less than 2.5 minimum wages for full-time employment, and health workers with higher education - no less than 4 minimum wages.

The draft also stipulates that the adoption of this law cannot reduce the salaries of medical workers and cannot worsen the conditions of payment. The authors believe that the adoption of legislation guaranteeing decent wages for all health workers, regardless of where they live, will restore the reputation and relevance of the profession, as well as reduce social inequality in the country.
