Medvedev suffers crushing defeat to world No. 1 in tournament with record prize money

Medvedev suffered a crushing defeat from the world's number one tennis player at a tournament with a record prize fund.

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev lost to the world's number one tennis player, Italian Jannik Sinner, at the Six Kings Slam tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The results can be checked on the organizer's website.

The match ended with a miserable score of 0:6 and 3:6. The Six Kings Slam will pay out record prize money: tennis players will receive at least $1.5 million in entry fees and $6 million for the winner.

Sinner had previously failed two doping tests but avoided disqualification. This decision was made by the International Tennis Authority (ITIA). The athlete's test on March 10 showed low levels of the metabolite clostebol.

Sinner has been ranked number one in the world since June 2024. He won the Australian Open this season, beating Medvedev in the decider. He has 13 ATP titles in total.
