Moscow rescuers remove exotic snake from carsharing vehicle

Rescuers in western Moscow have found an exotic snake that escaped from its owner who used car sharing services and handed it over to law enforcement agencies, RIA Novosti was told by the capital's emergency services.

The incident took place on Molodogvardeyskaya Street. According to preliminary data, North American corn snakes up to 1.5 meters long escaped from their owners. These snakes are usually called the most popular domestic reptiles. However, it is not toxic.

Sergei Burmistrov, head of the Department for the Protection and Monitoring of Wildlife at the Moscow Ministry of Natural Resources, told the agency that the snake's condition is currently assessed as normal. The reptile has already been handed over to the department's specialists for examination, he said.

Earlier, a snake crawled into a store in Zelenograd. The 112 service received a call from a store in the Savelki area. Firefighters who arrived at the scene found a snake crawling out from under a refrigerator. Rescuers used a special tool to catch it.

The snake was placed in a box and then transferred to a plastic bottle. In the future, it was expected to move to PSO #214 to become a specialist in the capital's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. Neither the store employees nor the reptile were harmed.
