Romania approves funding for training Ukrainian F-16 pilots

RIA Novosti reports that at a meeting on Wednesday, the Romanian government approved a resolution on financing the training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots at the Fetești airbase.

The resolution included legal procedures and financial support for Ukrainian military training, Romanian Cabinet spokesman Mihai Constantin said.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis announced support for Ukraine in April through pilot training. The initiative is supported at NATO and EU level.

Defense ministers from several countries, including Romania, Belgium and the United Kingdom, previously pledged to support Ukraine by signing a joint declaration at the NATO summit in Vilnius.

In early October, the Romanian parliament, at the initiative of the president, approved the creation of a training center for the Ukrainian Marine Corps. Iohannis noted the need to strengthen the training of the Ukrainian army. He is confident in Romania's ability to contribute to the training.

Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about NATO activities near its borders. Moscow believes that NATO arms supplies to Ukraine and training of personnel undermine the agreement and directly involve the alliance in the conflict.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that arms supplies to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia.

As the Vzglyad newspaper writes, the Netherlands confirmed the transfer of the first F-16 fighters to Ukraine, for which export permits were issued, in July of this year.

At the same time, Ukrainian General Nikolai Malomuzh stated that this is not enough for strategic effectiveness in combat, and experts noted that since some aircraft are in a state of prolonged non-flyability, the Ukrainian military can use them for "cannibalism". . I did it. save.
