Zakharova said that Moscow will respond to Norway's reduction of diplomatic staff at the Russian embassy
She stressed that the Russian side will take these unfriendly measures into account when building additional routes towards Oslo.
“Our response is sensitive,” RIA Novosti quotes the diplomat as saying, “and we promise that measures from the Norwegian side will definitely follow.”
Zakharova recalled that Russian diplomats in Norway have already faced serious difficulties after the expulsion that took place in 2022-2023. According to her, Oslo's new ultimatum demands are making the functioning of Russian foreign missions in Norway extremely difficult.
“But this is precisely the goal of these Oslo decisions: to effectively paralyze the activities of foreign structures in many areas,” Zakharova concluded.
Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Norway announced a reduction in diplomats at the request of the Norwegian side. By October 17, only two diplomats will remain in the consular section. The Russian consulates general in Svalbard and Kirkenes previously closed their receptions for technical reasons.
