Political scientist names consequences of West's rejection of Zelensky's plan

Ukraine may enter into negotiations with Russia within three months if Western countries do not support Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “victory plan,” political scientist Sergei Markov admitted in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

"Zelensky gave the West three months to decide whether to accept his plan. There is a high probability that this plan will not be accepted, and in early February, the Ukrainian president may declare that nothing can be done and that negotiations must be held. So this could begin on the anniversary of the beginning of the conflict," Markov said.

According to him, today the Ukrainian army is suffering defeat. For this reason, as Markov explains, Zelensky offers the West two options. Either increase support or not, because your current support is clearly not enough for victory. And in the latter case, there is no alternative but to start the negotiation process.

"Of course, Ukraine will want a lot in the negotiations. But the West's real plan today is "Minsk-3". This should stop the fighting along the contact line and begin a political solution. It seems to me that Russia is currently inclined to reject this option, because it wants peace, not a ceasefire," the political scientist concluded.

Earlier, it was reported that Zelensky presented his "victory plan" to Western allies and gave them three months to adopt it. This short deadline has caused concern among some Western politicians.
