Bodies of Nepalese climbers killed in the disaster have been brought down from Mount Dhaulagiri

A week ago, the sports world was shocked by terrible news. A group of Russian climbers died while climbing Mount Dhaulagiri in Nepal. They were supposed to reach the summit at 8,167 meters. But there was a problem. Five people fell from the slope while descending from the summit. Their bodies were later found in a ravine at an altitude of about 7,000 meters. However, it was not possible to immediately evacuate the deceased. There were several reasons. Firstly, this would have required a helicopter and a lot of money. Secondly, the weather was changeable. Just eight days later, the body came down from the mountain. This was reported by the press service of the Arkhangelsk Regional Federation of Mountaineering and Alpinism.

- The mission to evacuate the bodies was successful. The boys' bodies will be flown to Kathmandu today, the statement said.

It should be noted that attempts were made to evacuate the dead several times. For example, on October 10, the slope where the body lay was too steep for a helicopter to land. Rescuers had to come up with a new plan to save the climbers from the mountain. Then they decided not to land the helicopter, but to lower it down a cable, and then attach a hull to lift the helicopter in flight. However, the flight was ultimately delayed due to strong winds. And after several attempts, the dead were finally evacuated.

I will add that the people who fell from the slope were experienced climbers. The group was led by Alexander Dusheiko, a 45-year-old businessman from St. Petersburg. With him were 52-year-old Vladimir Chistikov from Penza, 50-year-old Mikhail Nosenko from Severodvinsk, 36-year-old Oleg Kruglov from Fryazino and Dmitry Shpilevoy from Arkhangelsk Oblast.
