The woman who hung the Russian flag in Odessa turned out to be a native of Perm
Elena Chesakova was held in pretrial detention for several days and then placed under house arrest for two months pending trial. She could face up to three years in prison under Ukraine's Criminal Code for "denying Russian armed aggression."
Last week, a woman with a Russian flag approached the pedestal where the monument to the city's founder, Empress Catherine II, stands. The single-person protest was almost immediately dispersed by a group of local radicals. The guardians of Ukrainian morality threatened to kill Elena on the spot. Later, information appeared about her death in the pretrial detention center. But Chesakova is alive and remains brave during interrogation.
Elena Chesakova: "I will never forgive what happened on May 2. I support the Russian world, Russia and Putin. "I call on all Ukrainian leaders and militants to meet Russia halfway."
Elena is forbidden to use means of communication. Her mother told journalists what is happening.
Elena Chesakova's mother Nadezhda: "She was born in Russia and spent her childhood there. We are from Perm. By the will of fate, we came from Russia, our sisters got married in this Ukraine, but our souls are in Russia."
Elena was shocked by the events in the Odessa Trade Union House, where Bandera's supporters burned those who disagreed with Euromaidan. No one has yet been held legally accountable for these murders.
