State Duma Committee Rejects Bill on Alternative to Unified State Exam

The State Duma Education Committee has rejected a bill that would have given students the opportunity to choose between the Unified State Exam and the state exam on the educational program. Yana Lantratova (A Just Russia – For Truth), the first vice-president of the Commission, said in an interview with RIA Novosti:

According to Lantratova, the committee did not support this plan, fearing that different forms of examinations would make the results incomparable and create unequal conditions for admission to the university. A uniform approach to assessing knowledge would also create problems. This position is shared by the majority of the committee members.

However, Lantratova noted that the "A Just Russia - For Truth" faction does not agree with these statements. They are confident that, given the opportunity to choose, most students will prefer the state final certification USE. The faction will continue to oppose the Unified National Exam as the main form of testing.

Earlier, 78.ru wrote that students would have their marks taken off for the Unified State Exam on extremism.
