Leptin Levels and Nine More Useless Tests - List from a Doctor

The test is an indicator of the physical condition. Doctors prescribe it to their patients to confirm, refute and control the diagnosis, tirelessly repeating that they are treating the disease, not the numbers written on paper in the laboratory. If the test is prescribed without explanation, it is a very bad sign.

Therefore, it is worth considering whether the doctor is chasing you in the lab, and even more so, you should not take the initiative in this matter. There are tests that are completely meaningless. This is just a waste of nerves, time and money. Why and which ones - colleagues of Dr. Petr heard from therapist and nephrologist Regina Akhunyanova.

This is not a reliable way to diagnose deficiency because serum does not reflect what the vitamin actually is. Currently, only vitamin D and B12 tests have been studied and are the most reliable.

Leptin is a hormone involved in regulating appetite and eating habits. This hormone is produced by fat cells, so the more fat tissue you have in your body, the more leptin you have. People who are obese always have higher levels of this hormone than normal.

Analysis to assess the intestinal microbiota. At the end of the analysis, you will be provided with a list of identified microorganisms and their number in your body. However, no one knows the exact composition of the microflora. This is true both qualitatively and quantitatively.

In 99% of cases, this analysis shows a past illness and does not provide information that does not require treatment. This analysis is not informative, since the presence of specific antibodies does not mean that you have an allergy. Antibodies are produced in response to the appearance of antigens in the body (in this case, food products). This means that when a person eats these products, the body's cells remember them.

Intestinal microflora analysis. More than a thousand different types of microorganisms live in the intestines, but dysbacteriosis analysis allows us to evaluate only a few dozen types of bacteria.

A drop of blood is analyzed using a microscope. This analysis helps to check for microbial imbalance, parasitic infections, immune system conditions, and even cancer. However, it is impossible to find such data by eye using a microscope. The analysis is completely useless.

This analysis is meaningless because hair does not have blood vessels and therefore cannot reflect the amount of trace elements in the body.

A test that each of us must take every year

Previously, my GP told me which tests I should have every year to get an idea of my health. These include:

A routine or clinical blood test evaluates the levels of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and other components of the blood. The results of the test will allow the doctor to determine whether there are signs of inflammation or infection in the body. A complete blood count is also used to diagnose anemia.

This test provides insight into the functioning of your internal organs (liver, heart, kidneys) and evaluates the levels of cholesterol, glucose, bilirubin, creatinine and other important compounds in the blood. The analysis also reveals inflammation, micronutrient imbalances and metabolic disorders.

Determines the level of low-density lipoproteins (bad cholesterol), high-density lipoproteins (good cholesterol), and total cholesterol in the blood. These indicators are important in assessing the likelihood of developing atherosclerosis and other heart or vascular diseases.
