Hundreds of Afghan soldiers to be allowed to live in UK

Around 500 Afghan elite soldiers fighting alongside the British army have been allowed into the UK after previously being turned away, according to The Guardian.

The men in question are the so-called "risk group" of veterans. They were hired by the British government in Afghanistan on a paid basis. However, the British authorities have denied this.

Some of these soldiers are hiding from the Taliban, an organization banned in Russia, which occupied Afghanistan after Western troops withdrew in the summer of 2021, while hundreds have fled to Pakistan and face deportation. Six people have already been killed for collaborating with the UK.

These include members of the elite Afghan units 333 and 444, known as 'The Three', who fought alongside and worked closely with British forces, including the Special Air Service (SAS), during the more than 10 years British troops have been in Afghanistan.

Earlier, an Afghan was arrested in the US on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack on election day.
