Novosibirsk residents estimated the fair cost of paid medicine

Most Novosibirsk residents prefer commercial clinics to compulsory medical insurance and are more satisfied with the quality of paid services, mainly due to the higher level of service, but are not ready to pay significant amounts for private medicine. Two thirds of Novosibirsk residents believe that the cost of a doctor's appointment at a commercial clinic is up to 3,000 rubles. RENI (Renaissance Insurance Group) came to this conclusion after surveying more than 12 thousand Russians across the country, including residents of Novosibirsk.

Residents of Novosibirsk very often seek medical help. In particular, 24% do it several times a year, and 13% - monthly. The majority (46%) receive treatment under the compulsory medical insurance and use the services of private clinics. At the same time, almost a third go there with the same frequency as for free, and a fifth prefers only non-state medicine.

Residents of Novosibirsk are generally satisfied with the quality of paid medical services. Half of the respondents believe that it is somewhat higher than compulsory medical insurance. And more than a quarter believe that the quality of private medicine is much higher. At the same time, it cannot be said that the other half is not satisfied with "free" drugs. More than a third (40%) of respondents believe that the quality of drugs under compulsory medical insurance and commercial services are similar, and 11% of respondents rated the quality of services under compulsory medical insurance as higher than paid services.

"There are options for voluntary health insurance, in which the insured person pays only part of the cost of medical services (usually the deductible does not exceed 15-20 percent of the total cost of the clinic's services). These programs are in high demand, since their cost is low, and the quality of content is the same as traditional VHI programs," says Yulia Galanicheva, Managing Director of VHI at Renaissance Insurance.

The main reasons why Novosibirsk residents prefer to pay for medical services are: a higher level of service and care for patients (35%), the ability of doctors to spend more time with patients (31%) and higher qualifications (16%). This is what respondents believe).

At the same time, Novosibirsk residents are not ready to pay significant amounts for medical services. The majority (84%) estimated the "fair" cost of a doctor's appointment at a private clinic, regardless of specialty, at up to 5,000 rubles. Two-thirds of respondents noted that the fair cost of a doctor's appointment at a commercial clinic would be up to 3,000 rubles.
