Half of Russians read reviews before making an appointment with a doctor

Only 22% of Russians blindly go to see a doctor. 48% look through information on the Internet and social networks before going to an appointment. The data was obtained by AlfaStrakhovanie as a result of an online survey, the results of which were reviewed by Gazeta.Ru.

43% of respondents regularly visit medical institutions. Of these, 64% receive treatment under the compulsory medical insurance. 31% use voluntary medical insurance and private consultations. The rest sometimes consult specialists or their family doctors.

Without referrals, respondents could only contact local general practitioners. Specialized doctors often get their tests from social media and professional websites based on recommendations. At the same time, we trust doctors less if we only have positive reviews. 28% reported that they consider reasonable criticism on the Internet more reliable than enthusiastic reviews. 17% pay attention to the frequency of patient reviews and try to avoid doctors who write very rarely or have been writing reviews for a long time.

The respondents themselves write reviews in 56% of cases. The desire to leave is influenced by good or bad quality of service. At the same time, 28% contact supervisory authorities in case of poor quality in order to protect the rights of patients.

It is worth noting that, as the results of the study show, the level of trust in doctors has increased in general. 67% of respondents trust their diagnosis and the chosen treatment protocol. The share of rechecks was only 24%.

Self-medication is popular among a third of respondents. This means using advice on the Internet or recommendations from friends. Another 21% took the basic test on their own. And 11% can sign up for an ultrasound, MRI, and other specialized tests without a doctor's examination.

Earlier, a lawyer explained what to do if you are denied medical care under the compulsory medical insurance.
