Pensioners expect an increase in payments in December: who will get their pensions raised early, and when to expect the increase for the rest
Pensions in 2025 will be indexed in January, not February as before. Payments to both unemployed and employed people will increase from the first month of next year. But some will see an increase as early as December 2024.
Who will get their pension increased and by how much?
Monthly payments will increase for all pensioners, regardless of whether they continue to work or not. The indexation will take place in January, and its level will be based on the inflation of 2024, said Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov at parliamentary hearings in the federal committee, where the "budget package" was considered.
According to the Central Bank, in August 2024, inflation was 9.05%, but the Ministry of Economic Development expects that inflation will slow down and reach 7.3% by the end of 2024. It is by this amount that the insurance pension is planned to be increased, follows from the explanation of the law on the budget of social funds: This means that the increase will affect each person individually, since the pension amount will depend on the accumulated length of service and pension points. But we can only focus on how average pensions will grow in 2025.
According to the legislative clarification on the budget of social funds, the average old-age insurance pension at the end of 2024 will be 22,375 rubles 95 kopecks. In 2025, it should increase to 1,634 rubles 94 kopecks, and by the end of the year it will be 24,059 rubles 12 kopecks. The number of social pensions received by people with disabilities and those who cannot receive insurance pensions due to lack of work experience will also increase. But this will happen in April.
Director of the Social Fund Sergei Chirkov confirmed Anton Siluanov's words that payments will increase in January. He discussed the new rules with deputies at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.
Sergey Chirkov also provided precise data on the expected growth: 7.3%. The mechanism of occurrence is the same for everyone. But not all pensioners will receive higher payments in January.
— Those who received their pension before January 12 will receive the payment at the end of December. For citizens who receive pensions on other dates, the funds will be paid on the corresponding dates in January 2025, Sergei Chirkov concluded at the meeting.
