Moscow airports operate normally despite bad weather

The capital's airports are operating normally, despite the bad weather and heavy snowfall, Rosaviatsia press secretary Artem Korenyako reported on his Telegram channel.

According to him, on October 14 from 07:00 to 19:00 Moscow time, five runway inspections were carried out at Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports.

"There were no flight cancellations due to weather conditions during the reporting period," Korenyako said, adding: "Six flights were briefly delayed due to the need to spray additional de-icing fluid on the aircraft."

Leading expert of the Phobos meteorological center Evgeny Tishkovets reported via his Telegram channel that on October 14, 12 mm of precipitation fell in the capital in the Moscow region in 12 hours, that is, 17% of the average monthly precipitation. The heaviest precipitation was recorded in Serpukhov - 17 mm or 30% of the October norm.

On the morning of October 14, the first snow fell in Moscow. At the same time, the previous night was the coldest since the beginning of October. The lowest temperature at VDNKh was 2.4 degrees, and in Lukhovitsy, Moscow Region, the air cooled to negative values.

The yellow danger level will remain in the Moscow region until October 15, as frosts are expected at night.
