Tyumen FSIN has stopped updating data on the number of prisoners

The Tyumen FSIN has not updated data on the number of prisoners held in local colonies for over a year. The statistics were last published on the department's official website in January 2023. It was then reported that since 2022, the number of prisoners in the Tyumen colony had decreased by 755 people.

According to recently published data, there are 6,384 people in the penal system of the Tyumen region. The information on the website of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia is also not updated. It is reported that there are 433,006 people in the colony.

"We would like to draw your attention to the fact that all open data and other information, access to which is not restricted, is published in the public domain on the Internet. This information can be found on the official website of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation for the Tyumen Region," they responded there.

Previously, the Federal Bureau of Prisons published statistics at the end or beginning of the year. There is data for January. For example, in January 2020, 7,189 people were held in custody in the Tyumen colony, and in January 2022, 6,964 people.

In November 2022, dozens of people moved to the Northern Military District as part of the Wagner PMC. Yevgeny Prigozhin personally came to Tyumen to pick them up. In October 2023, representatives of the Ministry of Defense transferred the prisoners to the SVO. The Tyumen Regional Federal Penitentiary Service has not officially commented on the situation.

On October 2, President Vladimir Putin signed a bill exempting people from punishment at the trial stage for participating in special military operations. This document was published in the Official Legal Information.
