Gunman Tries to Break into Trump Rally. Police Suspect Third Assassination Attempt, FBI Disagrees

In California, an armed man was detained near a rally in support of former presidential candidate and state governor Donald Trump. According to local police, it appears that an assassination attempt was being prepared against the politician.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said law enforcement had foiled a third assassination attempt on Trump. The assailant was identified as a member of a right-wing anti-government group.

He was identified as Wham Miller, a 49-year-old Las Vegas resident. The man was reportedly trying to get into a Trump rally with a counterfeit pass. When he was arrested, police found a shotgun and a loaded pistol with a large magazine. It was determined that the American was in illegal possession of the weapons.

The New York Post, citing law enforcement sources, reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has rejected allegations of an assassination attempt on Trump. The agency maintained its position, stating that there is no danger to the former president's life.

Miller himself denied the accusations that he had orchestrated the assassination attempt on the politician, saying he was shocked that the allegations had been made against him.

But the sheriff did claim the man wanted to make a deal with Trump, according to the NYP, calling Miller “crazy” in a conversation with reporters.

The first assassination attempt on the former US president occurred on July 13. Shots were heard during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Trump was shot in the ear. He was taken under the protection of Secret Service agents, after which the politician was urgently evacuated. The culprit was local resident Thomas Matthew Crooks, who died.

The FBI found that Crooks had been preparing to kill the politician for more than a year, buying weapons, ammunition, and parts for homemade explosive devices while hiding under a false name and using encrypted accounts.

On September 15, Trump survived a second assassination attempt. He was attacked at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, eastern Florida. The politician was saved again by the Secret Service. One of them spotted a gun sticking out of the bushes on the golf course and immediately responded by opening fire on the area.

The attacker was identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. It was later revealed that he was an ardent supporter of Ukraine and had called on Americans to volunteer for the Ukrainian Foreign Legion.
