Media: Death toll from Israeli strike on school and mosque in Gaza rises to 24

Gaza, Palestine, October 6, 2024, 09:57 — Regnum News Agency. The death toll has risen to 24 after the Israeli Air Force struck a school and a mosque in the central Gaza Strip city of Deir al-Bala, Al Jazeera reported on October 6.

The Israeli airstrike reportedly injured 93 people, with hundreds of refugees in schools and mosques, sources said.

As reported by Regnum, on the night of October 6, Israeli military aircraft attacked a refugee mosque in Deir el-Bala. According to the Israeli military, the mosque houses the command and control center of the Palestinian Hamas movement, which plans and carries out attacks on Israel. Initially, 16 people were reported killed, but later increased to 21.

Earlier in the day, Israeli aircraft carried out a series of attacks on several areas in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital. Earlier, Avichai Edri, Israel's military spokesman in the Arab media, advised local residents to evacuate their homes in the area, which is known to contain items belonging to the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah.

In Beirut, Israeli attacks damaged several buildings and caused large fires at several sites. An explosion was also confirmed to have been heard near Rafic Hariri International Airport.
