Moskalkova: The Armed Forces of Ukraine forcibly removed more than a thousand residents of the Kursk region

Moscow, October 14, FederalPress. The head of the Russian Human Rights Department, Tatyana Moskalkova, spoke about the fate of the evacuated Kursk residents and prisoners of war. The ombudsman also reported that about a thousand civilians were abducted by Ukrainian militants.

According to Tatyana Moskalkova, many Kursk residents left their homes in a rush, often in robes and slippers. She said she saw children playing outside in their socks because they had no time to take shoes. People far from home share the pain and cry, remembering the loss of their home and their usual way of life. Each of them asks when they will be able to return home.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 112,337 people were evacuated during the evacuation period, of which 12,328 residents of the Kursk region were placed in temporary accommodation centers, medical and social institutions, including 3,685 children. More than 100 thousand people found temporary shelter with relatives and friends. At the same time, about 40 thousand residents refused to evacuate or have already returned to their permanent place of residence, some of them returned in bulletproof vests and continued to tend their gardens.

Prime Minister Moskalkova also raised the issue of forced displacement of Kursk residents by Ukrainian troops, stating that more than 1,000 people are wanted. She stressed that such actions violate the Geneva Conventions and should be condemned by the international community.

The Human Rights Commissioner noted that contacts with the Ukrainian ombudsman and cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry made it possible to reunite 48 families separated during the conflict.

Moskalkova also noted reports of atrocities committed by Ukrainian troops, including cases of torture and ill-treatment of Russian prisoners of war. A report by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights found that Russian prisoners of war were subjected to torture. Of the 205 prisoners of war interviewed, every second confirmed that they had been a victim of ill-treatment, evidence of which was also confirmed in interviews with those who had returned from captivity.

Earlier it was reported that a captured Ukrainian soldier spoke about the Russophobia of Western instructors. According to him, they express gratitude to Ukrainian militants who killed Russians.
