Date of possible match between Russian national team and Syria announced
The football match between Russia and Syria will take place in Volgograd on November 19.
Abderrahman Al-Khatib, vice-president of the Syrian Football Federation, announced the date of a friendly match between the Russian and Syrian national teams. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Al-Khatib said that the meeting is scheduled for November 19 and will take place in Volgograd. He stressed that the Syrian side is awaiting confirmation from Russia.
It was previously reported that a friendly match against Syria was scheduled for November 19. However, both sides have not yet officially agreed on holding the meeting.
Due to FIFA and UEFA sanctions, the Russian national team can only play friendly matches and has missed several major international competitions, including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
