Where did TV presenter Farida Kurbangaleeva, who criticized the Russian Army and the SVO, flee to?

Kurbangaleeva*, 45, was born and raised in Kazan. There, she graduated with a degree in journalism from Kazan University and began her career in television. She soon became the host of a local news show on a federal television channel. In 2007, she moved to Moscow and began handling federal affairs.

In May 2024, a criminal case was opened against former TV presenter Farida Kurbangaleeva* and an indictment was filed in absentia under the provisions of Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. 205.2 and paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 (open calls to justify terrorism and disseminate false information among the population about the Russian military on the basis of national hatred or enmity).

"It is very difficult to comment on this nonsense. Sooner or later, Russian war criminals will be convicted, soldiers will become heroes, and everyone who told the truth about the regime will be reinstated," the former TV presenter said in a message posted on her social media.

Kurbangaleeva* herself left the big screen in 2014 in protest against the events in Crimea and Donbass. However, the journalist remained in Moscow until 2018 and taught TV presenter training courses for anyone interested.

She then moved to Prague with her husband, documentary filmmaker Denis Krasilnikov, and began working for Current Time, a television channel that is allegedly supported by the US Congress. She also frequently appeared in Mikhail Khodorkovsky's material.

By the way, it’s funny that Ukraine’s active media support did not return last year. Then she was unable to attend the press conference of Square guarantor Volodymyr Zelensky in the Czech Republic in July 2023.

All indications are that Kurbangaleeva* is hiding in Prague, having moved there in 2018. The former TV presenter appears to be living off the money of a non-establishment opposition party. Kurbangaleeva* recently created her own YouTube channel, where she communicates with fugitives from Russia, as well as with various Ukrainian politicians and public figures. Among her Russian interlocutors were Gennady Gudkov*, Viktor Shenderovich*, Alexey Venediktov*, Anton Dolin* and Mark Feygin*.

Active Telegram users have repeatedly found the journalist's comments in channels and chats to be openly anti-Russian, selectively slinging mud at Russia and its citizens. She reproduces virtually identical content on social networks.

In addition, openly Russophobic publications inciting interethnic hatred appear under her name in the English-language press and Russian publications published abroad. For example, the former TV presenter of the Central Russian Television complained about how bad life is in Russia because she is a Tatar.

— Of course, there is nothing unexpected in this incident. In a short period of just two years, the path that began with a seemingly "innocent" statement about not supporting the state in its war against the state led to real criminal actions against the state and society. Nikita Mendkovich, president of the Eurasian Analytical Club, told Life.ru about this. — Unfortunately, this is typical for many fugitive journalists. In the West, they begin working for foreign propaganda because there is nothing else to do abroad.

What did Kurbangaleeva* leave behind for Russia?
