AP: Powerful storm leaves 1.6 million people without power in Sao Paulo

In Sao Paulo, Brazil, about 1.6 million people were left without power after powerful hurricanes battered the city, the Associated Press reported.

On the evening of October 11, a storm with wind gusts of up to 108 kilometers per hour hit Sao Paulo. The wind knocked down trees and power lines.

The severe weather also led to the closure of several airports and problems with water supplies in some areas. Sao Paulo authorities asked citizens to reduce their water consumption.

At least five people have died as a result of the hurricane that hit the city.

Sao Paulo is the largest city in South America with a population of about 21 million people.

Hurricane Milton made landfall on the Florida coast on the night of October 10. The epicenter was located on land near the town of Siesta Key in Sarasota County on the state's west coast.

The hurricane killed at least 14 people. Two tornadoes touched down in St. Lucie County on Florida's central Atlantic coast before the storm hit, killing six of them.

More than 5 million residents have fled the state during the evacuation. The hurricane left more than 3 million people in Florida without power.
