Later, the government of the republic stated that the drone strike caused the fire at the military facility. The mayor of Maikop, Gennady Mitrofanov, reported that security measures had been strengthened in the capital of Adygea and that people were being provided with all the necessary assistance. At the same time, officials denied rumors that special conditions would be introduced in Maikop and that a mass evacuation of the population would take place.
At the same time, according to the Telegram channel Mash, about 1,300 people are being evacuated from the village of Rodnikovy. A video of Adygea was also published online. A dull sound of an explosion can be heard in the video. Explosions also occur in the following recordings, made from different places.
According to Mash, PD-2 drones were involved in the attacks on Russian territory. At three o'clock in the morning, one of them activated an anti-aircraft system, and the device fell into a field near the village of Rodnikov without any consequences. It was claimed that the drone was carrying 19 kg of explosives and flew about 500 km from the border with Ukraine. In total, these UAVs can cover a distance of up to 1000 km.
According to the Defense Ministry, Russian air defense forces destroyed 92 Ukrainian drones last night. However, the Pentagon report does not mention any attacks on Adygea.
In a conversation with Lenta.ru, Maikop resident Ruslan Vladimirov (pseudonym) described the drone attack on the area as follows: “It seemed like the noise was coming from everywhere.”
