Kicksharing companies explained under what conditions the electric scooter rental season will end in St. Petersburg

The electric scooter season in St. Petersburg may end as early as next week. Vice-Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Alexey Tsivilev proposed ending it on October 19. To this end, he sent an appeal to the Deputy Director of Komtrans Dmitry Vanchkov.

- It is raining in St. Petersburg in the autumn, and there are puddles and fallen leaves on the sidewalks. All this makes the use of electric scooters unsafe for both drivers of two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians walking on wet asphalt. In addition, the sidewalks can be slippery due to morning ice, as well as wet fallen leaves, the deputy head wrote in his Telegram channel.

However, kicksharing companies are not yet considering the possibility of ending the season. As SPB.KP.RU was told in the press service of Whoosh, for example, the company does not focus on specific dates. Everything depends on the weather.

- As long as the daytime temperature is above 0 degrees and the asphalt is not covered with snow and ice, traveling by scooter is very comfortable and safe. Forecasters predict that in the next few weeks there will be no subzero temperatures, even at night, so scooters will continue to operate, the company said.

However, if there is ice in the northern capital in the morning or significant rain falls in the city, Kicksharing activates "Pause". This means that scooters cannot ride in bad weather, but remain on the streets.

- Weather conditions are being closely monitored and the season is expected to end when temperatures reach below freezing and ice forms. Users are urged to be more careful when renting electric scooters, the company's press service told the publication.

However, the final decision on whether scooters will disappear from the streets of St. Petersburg will be made by officials within the framework of the kicksharing agreement.
