The head of the Komi Republic, Vladimir Uyba, announced his resignation on November 5. He did not give a reason for his resignation, but noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had given him a new job at the federal level. In the article, URA.RU explains how an ordinary doctor from Yekaterinburg became the governor of Komi and where he will go next.
Vladimir Uyba announced his resignation on November 5. He expressed gratitude to the Government of the Komi Republic and the heads of local government bodies for their joint and effective work. According to him, the republic and all its citizens will forever remain in his heart.
According to Uyba, the Russian president "has assigned him new tasks at the federal level." However, he did not explain specifically what he would do after leaving office, but instead thanked President Putin for his trust.
According to Kommersant, Uyba's resignation was expected. It is known that he took the last place in terms of influence of regional heads, according to the Agency for Political and Economic Communications (APEC). According to the newspaper, Uyba was not an effective manager, was unable to form a working team, and his communication with the public and elites was rude and sometimes inappropriate. In the last few months, Uyba has had conflicts with raw materials companies operating in the region, which may be one of the reasons for his resignation.
Prior to this, Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev and Tambov Region Head Maksim Egorov also announced their resignations. According to Golubev, he was offered a new position, but did not specify which one.
Vladimir Uyba was born on October 4, 1958 in Omsk to a family of engineers. In 1982, Uyba graduated from the Sverdlovsk Medical Institute, and in 2000, from the National Economic Academy. He is a doctor of medical sciences and the author of scientific papers in the field of public health.
Uyba began his medical career in Yekaterinburg, then was the attending physician at the Beloyarsk NPP clinic and head of medical department No. 32. Since 2003, he headed the FU Medbioextrem and significantly expanded the company, focusing on disaster medicine. In January 2020, he became Deputy Minister of Health of Russia.
In April 2020, Uyba was appointed acting head of the Komi Republic and won the September 13 election with 73.18% of the vote. Ten days later, he took office as governor of the region following the resignation of Sergei Gaplikov.
The next presidential elections in the Komi Republic will be held on September 14, 2025. Uyba himself reported this, his words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
