СМИ: Финляндия может провести эксперимент по открытию КПП на границе с РФ
The Finnish government may suddenly experiment with opening at least one checkpoint on the Russian border, which will probably happen in the winter, the Ilta-Sanomat newspaper reported, citing sources.
The publication indicates that the government does not plan to open the crossings in the near future, but may reassess the border situation if its assessment of the security situation changes.
According to the newspaper, the eastern border will not be fully opened and only one border checkpoint will be open.
The Finnish government has closed the border crossings with the Russian Federation since November 2023, citing uncontrolled migration from third countries. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Finland's decision to close its borders creates a new border in Europe and that Moscow's response to this step will be in an interdepartmental format.
