Mayor Sergei Petrin congratulated veteran Nikolai Borisov on his 100th birthday
On Sunday, November 3, Nikolai Borisov, an honorary citizen of Voronezh, veteran and retired soldier of the Great Patriotic War, turned 100. For his military distinctions, Nikolai Nikolaevich was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degree, the Red Star "For Services to the Fatherland in the Soviet Army" of the 3rd degree and two medals. The veteran participated in 16 Victory Parades on Red Square in Moscow, and in 1945 he commanded a tank for the first time.
I am proud to be talking to a representative of the generation of victors who took part in the Battle of Kursk in July 1943, one of the largest battles between the Nazi invaders and the Soviet Army. Sergei Petrin wrote about this in his Telegram channel after a telephone conversation with Nikolai Borisov: "We are grateful to Nikolai Nikolaevich for his active participation in the social and cultural life of the city, especially in the patriotic education of youth."
Currently, the veteran is raising four great-grandchildren and, despite his advanced age, conducts courage classes for students, attends sports competitions, concerts, supports participants in special combat operations and is especially worried about the men who are now fighting.
