During airstrikes, Ukrainians' smartphones can spontaneously change their geographic location and time, the Kyiv-24 TV channel reported.
As the TV channel explained, this could be caused by the activation of electronic warfare (EW) systems, which initiate GPS simulation (sending false signals). In particular, as reported by Kyiv-24, the location of the Kiev residents could change to the Kursk or Bryansk regions of Russia.
In late October, many residents of the Kyiv region reported that they had changed their geographic location to Belarus. Local media reported that this had been happening for several days in a row: alarm clocks on mobile phones were ringing automatically, and some people were going to work an hour earlier because the time in Belarus differs by one hour from the time in Ukraine. The media then cited explanations from military officials and indicated that this could be due to the operation of powerful electronic warfare systems.
