The Ministry of Health told Life.ru about the most important reserve for reducing mortality
Traditionally, the incidence of respiratory diseases such as coronavirus infections, flu, parainfluenza, and various acute respiratory viral infections increases in autumn. Vaccinations help prevent these diseases and their serious complications. As Oksana Drapkina, head of the federal budgetary institution "NMITs TPM" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, told Life.ru, vaccination is now an important preliminary means of reducing mortality.
According to experts, people now have a unique opportunity to get vaccinated against almost all infectious diseases. At the same time, she believes that the work of doctors will be significantly easier if vaccination becomes mandatory, especially for patients at risk, such as pensioners and children. Drapkina explained that vaccination against influenza reduces mortality from chronic and infectious diseases in people with circulatory diseases. This was shown in a study by the National Research Center for Preventive Medicine. In this regard, Life.ru's interlocutors urged Russians to get vaccinated, especially against influenza and pneumonia.
As the Ministry of Health expert explains, the number of respiratory diseases increases in the fall, and vaccination will help not only prevent these diseases, but also prevent serious complications.
Drapkina also noted the increase in the number of people vaccinated against flu and pneumonia. The expert recalled that pneumonia complicates the course of any disease and, if left untreated, can lead to death. Therefore, vaccination in this case is a very reliable and specific method of protection.
In conclusion, the Life.ru interlocutor called on Russians to observe non-specific methods of protection: wash their hands, wear masks, avoid contact with sick people and stay home at the first signs of illness.
In most regions of Russia, the peak incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) occurs in December-February. The Ministry of Health recalled that influenza occupies an important place in the structure of outbreaks of acute respiratory viral infections, which can be severe, leading to complications and even death.
