The State Duma has adopted in the first reading a bill banning childfree propaganda

The State Duma adopted the bill on the ban on public propaganda of the ideology of refusing to have children (childlessness) in the first reading at a plenary session on Wednesday, October 17. This was reported by Izvestia.

Deputies and senators, led by speakers Vyacheslav Volodin and Valentina Matviyenko, proposed banning child protection propaganda on the Internet, in the media, in films and advertising. Volodin stressed that the ban is not aimed at interfering with privacy. Aitkulova and Matviyenko assured that the bill will not force women to give birth and will not contain repressive measures.

Also, the bill on fines for propaganda of childlessness, similar to fines for non-traditional sexual relations and transgenderism, was adopted in the first reading. For propaganda purposes, citizens will be fined up to 100 thousand rubles, civil servants - up to 200 thousand rubles, legal entities - up to 1 million rubles or suspended from activity for up to 90 days. The fine is doubled for propaganda directed against minors. For propaganda through the media or the Internet, the fine is up to 200,000, 400,000 and 4 million rubles, respectively. If a legal entity carries out propaganda activities aimed at minors, it will face a fine of up to 5 million rubles.

Foreigners who promote childlessness face fines, including arrest for up to 15 days and deportation from Russia.

It was previously reported that maternity capital in St. Petersburg can be used for the repair and reconstruction of housing.
