The Netherlands has allowed Kyiv to strike Russia: which regions will be in the affected area. Map

The Netherlands has officially allowed Ukraine to use F-16 fighters to carry out missile strikes on military targets. The aircraft can use short-, medium- and long-range missiles for strikes. Potentially, the fighter could use NAIM-174B missiles, the maximum range of which is 300 km. URA.RU maps the territories of Russia that may be subject to missile threats.

Last summer, the Netherlands delivered the first F-16 fighters to Ukraine. Then news broke about the delivery of six military aircraft to Ukraine. British journalists, citing sources in the Ukrainian Air Force, wrote that Kyiv began to actively use the F-16 almost immediately. Then the West began to discuss whether Ukraine should officially authorize missile strikes on Russia.

On October 17, the Netherlands allowed Ukraine to use F-16 fighter jets to strike military targets in Russia, Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said.

The F-16 fighter's primary air-to-air weapon is the AIM-9L Sidewinder short-range infrared missile. They can launch missiles from a distance of 18 km.

The AIM-120 AMRAAM missile, equipped with an active radar homing head similar to that used in the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system, is used to attack medium- and long-range targets. The maximum launch range of these missiles is up to 70 km.

For air-to-ground operations, the F-16 is equipped with a variety of guided missiles and guided bombs, including the AGM-65G Maverick, GBU-12, GBU-24, and GBU-31 JDAM. Ranges range from 20 km to 75 km.

The F-16 fighter is potentially capable of launching the NAIM-174B long-range missiles at a range of up to 300 km. This is a new onboard weapon developed on the basis of the SM-6 (RIM-174) anti-aircraft missile.

The range can exceed 300 km. However, this type of missile has so far only been tested on F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft as part of the US naval exercise RIMPAC.

Theoretically, if Kyiv uses long-range missiles capable of covering a distance of up to 300 km, Sevastopol could be the target. The distance from the south of the Nikolaev region to Sevastopol is approximately 262 km.

The distance from Kharkov, which is under Ukrainian control, to Voronezh with a population of 1 million is about 200 km, and the distance to Kursk with a population of 500 thousand is 160 km. Avdiivka is currently under Russian control, but if Kyiv launches a missile there, it could reach Rostov-on-Don. Also potentially under threat are such cities as Lgov, Gubkin, Stary Oskol, Liski, Rossosh, Valuyki, Alekseyevka and other territories of the Russian Federation.
