The prosecution requested 20 years in prison and a fine of 500 million rubles for Olga Mirimskaya

The prosecutor's office sought 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of 500 million rubles for Olga Mirimskaya.

The businessman is accused of bribing investigators in the case of his daughter's kidnapping. According to investigators, in 2016, Mirimskaya paid for "falsifying the case" against her former common-law husband and co-owner of the Zolotaya Korona payment system Nikolai Smirnov. She accused him of kidnapping her daughter and sued him for "separation from her daughter."

The prosecutor's office sought 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of 500 million rubles for former businesswoman from the Forbes list Olga Mirimskaya.

The former chairman of the board of directors of BKF Bank and the founder of a Russian food company has been accused of bribing an investigator in the case of the kidnapping of his daughter, the press service of the Izmailovsky Court of Moscow reports.

Another defendant in the case, former investigator Yuri Nosov, was sentenced by the prosecutor's office to 13 years in prison and a fine of 111 million rubles. This process is private.

The trial of Mirimskaya and Nosov began in the summer of 2023. The founder of Russian Product was charged with giving a bribe of 3.25 million rubles to a former investigator and three more counts of attempting to bribe a Moscow judge for a total of $1.75 million. Nosov was accused of receiving especially large bribes.

According to investigators, in 2016, Mirimskaya paid Nosov to "falsify the case" that she was conducting against her former common-law husband and co-owner of the Zolotaya Korona payment systems, Nikolai Smirnov. The businessman accused him of kidnapping the girl and filed a lawsuit for "separation from his daughter."

The remaining episodes of the incident date back to 2014-2016. The investigation established that Mirimskaya tried to bribe a judge of the 9th Arbitration Court so that he would overturn the decision according to which the businessman's ex-husband Alexey Golubovich received a mansion in the center of Moscow.

The defendants pleaded not guilty. According to the lawyer, Mirimskaya believes that she was ordered to initiate a criminal case. The lawyer claims that the businesswoman's ex-husband "misled" the investigation.

Olga Mirimskaya was detained in December 2021. Six years ago, Forbes magazine included the businesswoman in the list of the richest women in Russia, where she took 22nd place with a fortune of $100 million.

The proposed punishment is unprecedentedly harsh. On October 8, prosecutors requested a similar sentence for former investigator Marat Tambiev in a record-breaking 7.3 billion ruble bribe case. As a result, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison, says Fedor Trusov, managing partner of the law firm Sokolov, Trusov and Partners.

Currently, Mirimskaya is in pretrial detention center No. 6. This is a women's prison in Pechatniki, which has long been in need of reconstruction. Human rights activist Alexander Khurudzhi said that the requested term is very serious, but will most likely be reduced.

— There are known cases that generally require quite long periods of time. However, this is not always confirmed by the final court decision. I think the same will happen here. The term will not exceed 14-15 years. And there were no statements from her. We visited six pretrial detention centers, where, by and large, wealthier residents do not experience serious problems. — These are not very good conditions. This is the only women's pretrial detention center. In fact, the cells are overcrowded, the issue with mattresses has not yet been resolved, and the beds are not the most comfortable. This is especially true for women with back and spine problems. We have complained about this several times. In my opinion, a serious and fundamental restructuring is needed. — Can these problems affect rich people who end up there? — This applies to everyone, because everyone sits, gives and receives on the same terms. The whole point is that someone has the opportunity to freely receive food, arrange for a doctor to be called, and even eat in a cafe or restaurant. And people who have no money at all do not have such an opportunity. There are no resorts there and the conditions are harsh. So Olga Mirimskaya or any woman who has served time for some crime will be sentenced to more or less the same conditions of minimal theft.

The defendants' lawyers could not be reached for comment. They had previously stated that the charges were not proven and planned to acquit the defendants.

The child's mother, Olga Mirimskaya, who is the first to face criminal liability, has the right to postpone the execution until her daughter comes of age, even if she is found guilty.
