NYT: US admits impossibility of large arms supplies to Ukraine

The US Department of Defense said it cannot increase arms deliveries to Ukraine, including long-range ATACMS missiles. This is because the United States' own defense capabilities have deteriorated, the New York Times reported.

"Officials of the Ministry of Defense say that it is no longer possible to supply these systems (ATACMS – Ed.) to Ukraine without using reserves. And this weapon is reserved for the American military for use in possible conflicts in the Middle East and Asia," the publication writes.

The newspaper noted that senior US officials are considering how to maintain US military readiness, or the ability to conduct ongoing operations, while continuing to support allies abroad. Various air defense systems, such as the Patriot, are in high demand in Ukraine. But providing this is problematic because it entails certain costs for US spending.

As reported by URA.RU, the European Union continues to sponsor Ukraine's defense industry, since it is unable to produce as many weapons as it needs. A high-ranking European NATO representative previously published a list of weapons that NATO could theoretically provide to Ukraine in the event of a conflict with Russia.
