In October last year, the Central District administration announced that the appearance of the former "drunk" streets of Dumskaya and Lomonosova, which were in a half-dead state after the scandalous closure of almost all the bars, could change for 180 years. do. It was planned to create a "public space for family recreation" with pedestrian zones instead of night clubs and bars. We quickly found investors willing to invest in this conceptual project. But the authorities found time to think about how all this could be organized. But a year has passed. What has changed?
Let me remind you that in March 2023, music stopped playing in the once most "party" area of the city. Then the commission sealed 20 entertainment establishments as part of the investigation of criminal cases on the sale of alcohol to minors. Only two bars were able to resume work. Since then, there have been almost no signs of life in the center of St. Petersburg's nightlife.
In order to somehow "revive" the historical location of the city center, in June 2023 the Central District presented a concept for possible changes. But here we are talking about a completely different Duma. On the former "drunk" street, it is proposed to create a public space with a children's area, a mini-golf course, a petanque area, cafes, restaurants, an ice rink and an open stage. But the situation does not go beyond the presentation.
- We received proposals from residents, businesses, government bodies and the general public. And almost everywhere the talk was about the conceptual transformation of space and the creation of a comfortable urban environment, - the head of the central district said in October of the same year in the program "Five Corners" of the radio "Komsomolskaya Pravda": St. Petersburg" (92.0 FM).
According to Fedorova, all options converged on one thing. Dumskaya should be made historically pedestrian. First, Comtrans had to analyze whether this would affect traffic jams and the road network.
"The monitoring results show that, in the opinion of the transport committee, the creation of a pedestrian zone on Dumskaya Street will not have a significant impact on the redistribution of traffic flows and the load on the adjacent road network," St. Petersburg said. Let us recall that a year ago the head of the Central District stated that if this solution is feasible without affecting the traffic flow, "all other aspects can be analyzed." Then, according to Fedorova, the administration had about a month to study these and other issues. Here is what the local administration told us a year later:
"The concept for the development of the territory of Dumskaya and Lomonosova streets is currently being developed by the relevant administration of St. Petersburg. "More detailed information about the project to create a public space will be published after it has been agreed upon and approved by all participants in the process."
"There is no news about changes on Dumskaya yet," the owner of one of the operating bars on the "drunk" street told SPB.KP.RU. - So, we understand that the courtyard near Apraksin has become more populated.

- The proposed concept is good. And there is nothing wrong with turning former "party" streets into public spaces. We had a similar experience. The question is how to make this place interesting, including for tourists, because the main tourist route goes through Nevsky Prospekt. Of course, now the quarter is half-dead and the city loses a lot in this regard. But the authorities, it seems, did not leave aside the idea of changing this. They alleviated the problem and turned to more important topics, highlighting the vibrant nightlife there last year. For example, as the governor noted, our priorities now are the development of continuous dams, as well as water supply systems and green urban systems. Therefore, they now have Dumskaya somewhere in the middle of the period. This is 3-5 years. They approach this issue carefully and slowly. Because in such a significant place, the price of error is high. It is important to take into account many factors and not spoil relations with companies or citizens. There are so many owners, tenants and residents that it is difficult to find a common language.
