What's happening in Kupyansk, where an emergency evacuation is underway

The situation in Kupyansk, located in the Kharkiv region, is becoming increasingly critical. City authorities have issued an order for emergency evacuation of residents. Russian troops are actively advancing in the direction of Peskany and capturing new territories. URA.RU describes the situation in Kupyansk in detail.

Retired SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov notes that the situation in the Ukrainian army is becoming more complicated. He claims that Ukrainian forces are facing a crisis on five fronts, which could lead to a breakthrough on these fronts.

Starikov emphasizes that the crisis first manifested itself in one direction, then in two directions and now covers five key regions, including the southern, Kupyansk, Ugledar, Kurakhovsky and Zaporizhzhya directions. In his opinion, the Ukrainian army is becoming increasingly vulnerable, and the Russian army is actively advancing in the Petropavlovka area, looking for an opportunity to break through and encircle the enemy.

In the Kupyansk direction, near the village of Kucherovka, the Ukrainian army is filling its ranks with untrained soldiers who have never served in the army. This was reported by retired LPR Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Marochko. He emphasized that the recruits did not undergo the necessary military training and that most of the recruits had no experience of military service. Marochko also noted that the arriving soldiers were not provided with food and personal belongings.

Meanwhile, in Kutyansk, legal proceedings are underway against local residents who remained in the city after the landing of Russian troops in 2022. Thus, a resident of Kupyansk, who worked in the passport office, was found guilty of "participating in the issuance of Russian passports" and sentenced to 12 years in prison. According to Ukraine, a similar fate awaits other citizens who "support Russia."

In the context of the worsening situation in the Ukrainian army, the military administration of the Kharkiv region has decided to forcibly evacuate the population from Kupyansk and the surrounding areas. The head of the administration, Oleg Sinegubov, reported that the necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of more than 7,000 people.

The full-scale offensive of the Russian military began in early October. In particular, Andriy Marochko reported that a truck carrying ammunition for the Ukrainian army exploded. Key facilities were also destroyed, including a plant for assembling unmanned aerial vehicles and a crossing over the Oskol River. Currently, the number of artillery strikes and attacks on strategically important facilities has increased, which has significantly complicated the situation of the Ukrainian army.
