The government has halved the quota for temporary residence of migrants in Russia

The Russian government has halved the quotas for temporary residence for immigrants. In 2024, 10.5 thousand permits will be issued, in 2025 - 5.5 thousand permits. This is clearly stated in the documentation.

TASS reports the contents of the document. "Distribute to each subject of the Russian Federation a quota for issuing 55 thousand temporary residence permits to foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Russian Federation by 2025," the report says. Compared to 2024, when the quota was 15 thousand, it has been reduced by almost half.

The quotas are distributed among the regions, with the largest share going to Moscow and the Moscow region. In 2025, 1,000 and 350 permits will be allocated, respectively, and 200 permits will be allocated to St. Petersburg. Tatarstan and Bashkiria will receive 100 permits each. In recent years, the size of the allocations has been decreasing, as the regions use only part of the permits allocated to them.
