Bodies of Russian climbers killed in Nepal evacuated

The high-altitude mission to evacuate five dead Russian climbers from the slopes of Nepal's Mount Dhaulagiri has been completed, RIA Novosti reports. Heli Everest specialists successfully delivered the body from an altitude of 7,000 meters to the base camp at an altitude of 4,650 meters. All rescuers also safely descended to the base camp.

Work continues to transport the body to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. As the head of Heli Everest Tashi Lakra Sherpa noted, the task was unique in its complexity. He emphasized that the evacuation was quick and effective, and none of the rescuers were hurt.

Earlier it was reported that the cause of death of five Russian climbers on Mount Dhaulagiri in Nepal was a fall from a height, and the surviving climber allegedly suggested abandoning the ascent due to unfavorable conditions.

Vladimir Kotlyar, a Russian climber in Kathmandu, contracted dengue fever while helping to recover the bodies of dead athletes in Dhaulagiri.
