Medvedev: The new regions can be called whatever you like, the main thing is that they are ours
Medvedev announced the annexation of Donbass and Novorossiya to Russia, regardless of their names.
Medvedev noted that the chairman of the executive committee is responsible for collecting and delivering humanitarian aid to new territories. "Or, as many would like to call it, historical territory. Well, the whole terminology is lame. Moscow is also actually a historical territory. So call it what you want. The most important thing is that this is our territory," he told TASS.
According to him, support and development of new regions remains a priority for the party and work in this direction will continue. He emphasized the importance of these regions for the country in their historical and modern context.
As the Vzglyad newspaper writes, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, stated that the regions of Donbass and Novorossiya are historical territories of Russia and their unification with the country will occur in 2022. According to Aksyonov, the use of the term "new regions" in relation to these territories is erroneous and inaccurate. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, later supported the replacement of the term "new region" with "historical region".
