The Kremlin assessed Tokayev's refusal to join BRICS

Moscow, October 16, FederalPress. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on a number of important events at a press conference. In particular, he expressed his opinion on Kazakhstan's position on participation in BRICS and Vladimir Zelensky's "peace plan".

Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Kazakhstan is a friend, strategic partner and ally of Russia, adding that Moscow attaches great importance to relations with the republic. He noted that Kazakhstan independently determines the forms of participation in international organizations.

However, the President of Kazakhstan is looking forward to the upcoming BRICS summit.

Peskov also spoke about Serbia's possible entry into BRICS, noting the need to take into account the pressure that Serbia's partners are facing. He was confident that Serbia would make decisions that meet the interests of its people.

He also noted that BRICS does not seek to replace the UN, but rather complements its work and emphasizes the universal nature of the organization.

At the upcoming BRICS summit, Russia plans to present a plan that corresponds to the chairmanship’s priorities in the areas of humanitarian, economic and financial cooperation, Peskov said.

Dmitry Peskov expressed doubts about the so-called "peace plan" proposed by Volodymyr Zelensky in the Ukrainian parliament. He said that the plan is in fact a continuation of the US strategy to "fight to the last Ukrainian".

According to Peskov, in order to achieve real peace it is necessary to “come to our senses” and understand the reasons that led to the conflict around Ukraine.

He also noted that many European countries are experiencing difficulties in mobilizing the resources of the military-industrial complex.

Earlier, political scientist Ildus Yarulin explained why Kazakhstan cannot choose between Russia and Europe.
