Kazakhstan has decided not to apply for BRICS membership for now
Uali explained that this decision by the Kazakh authorities is connected with a multi-stage process of considering membership and development prospects of the organization.
According to him, Kazakhstan gives preference to the United Nations as a universal, non-alternative international body.
"The president has repeatedly stated that he supports the United Nations, where all current international issues can and should be discussed," Uali said in an interview with the Tengrinews portal.
The president's press secretary added that the head of state believes that the UN has shortcomings, but "since there is no such organization, the support of the international community is necessary."
